Context

A major New Zealand bank was moving from traditional endpoint management and Azure-hosted virtual desktops toward a more cloud-managed workplace. The work needed to succeed at enterprise scale while maintaining endpoint compliance, predictable support, and service continuity.

My remit

I provided senior technical and operational leadership across the workplace platform. My remit included migration delivery, Cloud PC lifecycle management, patching and compliance, complex escalation, automation, and the transition of project outcomes into business-as-usual support.

What I focused on

  • Directed the migration of more than 5,000 Windows endpoints from SCCM and co-management to Intune-managed operation.
  • Helped transition the virtual desktop service to Windows 365 and supported its growth to more than 1,000 Cloud PCs as additional users and vendors came on board.
  • Worked across engineering, security, service, and support teams to align technical change with governance and operational requirements.
  • Strengthened escalation paths, support processes, documentation, and handover into BAU.
  • Used PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Power Automate to reduce manual effort and standardise reporting across fleet replacement, endpoint migration, and Windows upgrade activity.

Outcome

The programme established a more cloud-first operating model for workplace technology. Its value was not only the migration itself: the surrounding lifecycle, compliance, reporting, and support practices made the resulting platform easier to operate and extend.
